California's version of U.C.C. 9-501(4), referred to in the ensuing paragraph of the opinion, was significantly amended effective 1986 and, as amended, was renumbered as 9-604 in Revised Article 9, effective July 1, 2001.  In Part D of Problem.Mixed Collateral, we ask whether the amendment confirmed or changed the result in this case.
